Halloween 2010 is in the books.
And after last night, I think it moved into first place in my kiddo's holiday list.
He tricked. He treated. He ate candy.
He had an absolute blast.
I, however, realized a costume made from a box is a rather big pain in the butt.
One of our local churches has a Trunk or Treat festival which we went to last night.
I tried to put the box on my son and at first he wasn't having it.
All the construction I did to put this thing together and he wasn't going to wear it?
I. Don't. Think. So.
He wore it...and he tried to take it off every 5 minutes.
So on we went to my neighborhood for some good ol' fashioned trick or treating.
We dropped the rear seat in the van and left the hatch up so we could jump in and out. This was Hubby's strategy, allowing us to hit the maximum number of houses possible...and it worked like a charm!
But every time we got out, he had to put his costume on.
And every time we got back in, he had to take it off.
And of course, with all this putting on and taking off, the box started losing pieces. We lost the tail, one wing support, and back top flap became unglued.
But what do you expect from a cardboard costume?
As you can imagine, wearing this costume quickly became a large pain in the posterior. After about 10 houses, he wasn't havin' it anymore. He trick or treated in his hooded sweatshirt, sweatpants, and sneakers for the rest of the night.
And we changed his costume from an airplane to a punk kid...
or a boxer/runner...
Or Justin Bieber.
But the bottom line is he had a great time and while the costume was a hit when he wore it, it's the last time I'll made a cardboard box into an airplane.
Hope your Halloween was wonderful! Have a great week!

Steve made Evan a Wall-E costume from a box one year. It was adorable, creative and awesome. But we had the same problem- kid hated the box, couldn't sit down in it. It was destroyed by the end of the night. I almost told you- but I didn't want to burst your bubble (box).
At least it was cute!
Haha.. this was funny! I mean you were totally having a plane crash.. who would have thought that Justin Bieber would be your rescue??:):) sooo funny!
