Why Now and Not Then?

Have you ever been shopping and stumbled upon a new product you wish has been around a few years earlier?

It happened to me today. Let me 'splain.

While grocery shopping at Wally World this morning (that's Wal-Mart if you were wondering if there was some new grocery store chain out there)...I stumbled upon this:

A Cars/Lightning McQueen potty? Are you serious?!?!?!

Let me give you some back story as to why this is such a big deal for me.

Potty training my son was hell. I tried every trick in the book to get him to even try it.

Sink the Cheerios! He could care less.
Let's read a book on the potty! He'd rather not.
I'll give you a sticker if you sit on the potty! He'd take it off and throw it in the trash.

And I went through 2 potty's, thinking maybe if he liked a specific one, he'd want to sit on it.

So I bought the Fisher Price singing potty. I thought the whole 'it sings when you potty' thing would be a great motivator...

But the bowl mysteriously disappeared after about 3 weeks. I never found it.
I'm convinced he threw it in the trash to avoid the whole potty thing.

But I wasn't giving up so easily.

So I went back to the store and bought a plain potty. It was boring and it was cheap. And it could be used as both a little potty and then the seat could be placed on a regular sized toilet...double bonus.
It lasted a lot longer than the first one, but didn't really motivate him to want to use it.

After all the hard work I put in to get my son potty trained, all it took was him starting school last year. Within the first month of Pre-K, he was doing number one and number two on the potty.

Praise God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit!

But I can't help but wonder if a super cool Lightning McQueen potty would have made a difference...

I guess we'll never know but if I have that 2nd kid anytime soon.......
